Climate Changes – What Now?

100 scientists and stakeholders discuss how people in the Arctic area may adapt to the climate changes

Wednesday morning the Governor of Troms, Svein Ludvigsen welcomed almost 100 participants in the so called VACCA workshop in Tromsø, Norway. WACCA means Vulnerability and Adaption to Climate Changes in the Arctic.

VACCA is the third component in the SDWG-week where Arctic Councils Sustainable Development Working Group members, scientists and other stakeholders are gathered to a complete row of arrangements in Tromsø.

The participants in the VACCA Workshop listened to lessons about the effects of climate Changes in local societies in the Arctic and discussed how people in the northernmost part of the world will have to react on the climate changes.

The workshop will end Thursday afternoon and the recommedations will be handed over to SDWG for preparation for the ministerial meeting in the Arctic Council next year in April.
