Satisfaction with the SAO Meeting

Almost 200 participants enjoyed arctic climate and culture at the SAO Meeting in Kautokeino

"This years second SAO Meeting was a success," says SAO Chair Karsten Klepsvik. "Actually I think it is the best SAO Meeting we ever had."

"The meeting was held in a relaxed and constructive atmosphere. I am very thankful to the local organizers who made big efforts to create the best possible environment for the meeting in the heart of Sapmi."

The main task of the meeting was preparations for next year's ministerial meeting in Tromsø.

Among other issues, the future role of the Council was discussed. The meeting agreed that the observers must play a more active role in the future - not least in the working groups and the projects. At the same time, the challenge is to secure the Council's role as the voice of the Arctic people and the Arctic states.
