New Positions

Newly appointed Canadian SAO and Inuit Circumpolar Council Head of Delegation

Sheila Riordon, Director General, Environment, Energy and Sustainable Development Bureau, Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada has been appointed Canada's new Senior Arctic Official effective 4 August.

James Stotts was appointed Chair on June 18, 2009 in Inuit Circumpolar Council and as holder of this position also the ICC Head of Delegation at the Arctic Council meetings.

The Arctic Council Chair, Mr. Lars Møller, Denmark welcomes Riordon and James Stotts to their new tasks: "I would like to warmly welcome Ms. Riordon to the Arctic Council and wish our colleague Adele Dion, Canada's SAO for the last three years, all the very best at her new post. I would also like to thank outgoing Inuit Circumpolar Council HoD Patricia Cochrane for her contributions to the work of the Arctic Council and extend a warm welcome to James Stotts, whom many of you already know from his participation on the ICC delegation, as ICC's newly appointed HoD to the Arctic Council."
