‘Arctic 2014’ Emergency Exercise June 23-24

This June EPPR will be conducting an emergency exercise to validate the response to a radiological emergency. This exercise is the latest event in a series begun in 2002. Hosted by the Russian Federation, the exercise will take place on June 23 and 24, 2014 at Atomflot facilities in Murmansk Russia. The scenario will involve a radiation emergency that occurs on a nuclear icebreaker while docked.

In addition to connecting EPPR people with radiation responders they might not usually work with within their countries, EPPR will also inform the AMAP radiation monitoring group about the exercise. This will inform the scientist specialists about the exercise and is an example of a cross-cutting activity.
