The first environmental specimen banks were established over thirty years ago. Since then the number of ESBs is rising. However, few people know about ESB activities and their tremendous potential for environmental monitoring. ESB sessions at SETAC and other scientific communities can establish a network of players in the banking arena and promote the ESB idea to science and environmental protection.
