Arctic Emergency Management Conference Program

The conference aims to provide an inclusive venue for exchanging and sharing information, capacity building, discussing the cross-cutting Arctic Council themes relevant for emergency prevention, preparedness and response (PPR), co-production of knowledge and learning, as well as for networking and establishing and strengthening partnerships. The conference applies an approach to emergency PPR encompassing all types of risks and hazards in the Arctic region. The program is under development by the program commitee and has a focus on:

  • Natural and man-made disasters
  • Marine environmental response
  • Search and rescue
  • PPR in incidents including radiological/nuclear component
  • Small (and remote) communities • Indigenous priorities and Indigenous Knowledge
  • Climate change impacts and effects
  • Wildland fires
  • Health preparedness
  • Advancing prevention and preparedness in cruise tourism industry
  • Exercising
