Call for Session and Workshop Proposals: Arctic Youth Conference 2025

Venue: Radisson Blu, Tromsø
Deadline for Submissions: 15 August 2024

Are you passionate about the Arctic and its future? Do you have insights, research, or innovative ideas to share with youth in the Arctic? We invite you to submit your proposals for the Arctic Youth Conference and a unique chance to engage with passionate youth from in and around the Arctic!

About the Conference:

The Arctic Youth Conference is a premier event bringing together young leaders, researchers, activists, and professionals from around the world to discuss and address the challenges and opportunities in the Arctic region. This is your chance to contribute to meaningful discussions, showcase your work, and inspire others.

We are looking for session and/or workshop proposals related to the theme of the Arctic Youth Conference 2025

Overall theme: Empowering Youth in Arctic Futures

Topics include:

  • Youth Leadership in the Arctic
  • Preservation of Indigenous Culture and Identity
  • Young Researchers and Knowledge Holders in Arctic Science: Co-development of Knowledge
  • Preparedness and Resilience
  • Mental Wellbeing

Formats:

We welcome a creative and engaging variety of session and workshop formats, to break with the traditional conference formats. Priority will be given to proposals that are action-oriented and provide an innovative and creative session in line with the overall theme. Sessions will take place on the 24 & 25 January and are each 60 minutes. Sunday the 26 January will primarily be workshops and/or short courses aimed at building capacity for youth.

How to Submit Your Proposal:

To submit your session proposal, please follow these steps:

  1. Prepare Your Proposal:

    • Organizer(s)
    • Title of the Session
    • A Promotional Text (150 words max)
    • Abstract (300 words max)
    • Description of Session or Workshop Format
    • Objectives and Key Takeaways
    • Presenter(s) Information; incl. Name, Picture, Affiliation, Contact Information, and Bio. (Note that presenters must be registered for the conference and that travel and accommodation are not covered by the Arctic Youth Conference.)
    • Any Special Requirements (e.g., audiovisual needs)
  2. Submit Your Proposal:

    • Email your proposal in PDF format to acs@arctic-council.org with the subject line “AYC 2025 Session Proposal Submission – [Your Session Title]”.

Important Dates:

Once all submissions have been received, the Norwegian Chairship Youth Committee will review the proposals and communicate the results.

  • Submission Deadline: 15 August
  • Notification of Acceptance: 6 September
  • Conference Dates: 24-26 January, 2025
