Who are we?

The Arctic Council Secretariat (ACS) is a non-profit administrative secretariat for the Arctic Council. The Arctic Council is an intergovernmental forum for the 8 Arctic states: Canada, the Kingdom of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, the Russian Federation, Sweden, and the United States. The ACS headquarters are in Tromsø, Norway.

Why do we collect personal data in our system?

Contacts are stored in order to fulfill your wish to receive newsletters, invitations to meetings, and other relevant Arctic Council documents. You are entitled to be informed when we register this information in our database, which complies with EU rules for processing personal data.

How do we collect personal data?

The information we have stored is either publicly available on a website or a directory, on a business card that you have shared with an ACS staff member, submitted through one of our web forms, or sent to the ACS in an e-mail.

What type of personal data is stored?

The personal data we store is your name, your e-mail address, your professional affiliation, professional phone number, and professional mailing address.

What is our legal basis for collecting personal data?

By being part of our distribution list, you have given your consent for the ACS to process and store your contact information.

You can at any time request a copy of your own personal data which we have on file and correct any of the details. It is also possible to withdraw your consent at any time and request that your personal data be deleted. If you choose to withdraw your consent, it will only apply to future processing.

If you are no longer interested in receiving correspondence from the ACS you can at any point unsubscribe from our e-mail distribution lists.

Who do we share your personal data with?

We do not share or pass on any personal information to others outside of the Arctic Council.

How long do we store your information?

We only store your information for as long as it is necessary to perform the requested services. We will delete your contact information once it is no longer relevant, or upon explicit request from you.

How do we use cookies?

This site uses anonymized Google Analytics cookies to help us understand how visitors use the site.
